2016 Camp Staff

Fr. Nick Kleespie, OSB, Chaplain
Fr. Nick Kleespie, OSB, was born and raised in West-Central Minnesota.  After graduating from Saint John's University in 2006, Nick served with the Saint John's Abbey Benedictine Volunteer Corps at Saint Maurus Hanga Abbey in Tanzania.  Since entering the Abbey in 2009, Nick has kept busy working with the Saint John's Fire Department and directing the Abbey Schola.  He also enjoys being active outdoors, running, swimming, skiing, biking, beekeeping and gardening.  Nick sees his vocation to the priesthood as an opportunity to share in Christ's mission through ministry to others. Giving witness to the Gospel and service to the community are Nick's primary interests in his endeavor towards priesthood.

Jamie Reynolds, Head Camp Leader
Jamie Reynolds hails from the wonderful town of Mansfield, Ohio and recently graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a degree in choral music education and vocal performance.  While at St. Ben's, she was involved in the CSB/SJU Chamber Choir, SJU Campus Ministry, and the Project 8 TV station.  Since returning home, she became the vocal director for the St. Peter's High School production of "The Music Man" as well as assisted both the director and assistant director with coordinating cast communication and schedules.  Her interests include reading fantasy and science fiction, knitting, volleyball, watching movies, and, of course, singing.  Jamie was a chorister in the National Catholic Youth Choir during the summers of 2008, 2009, and 2010.  She is elated that she is able to return to the camp staff this year and looks forward to seeing both old and new faces this summer.

Ramond Mitchell, Camp Leader
Ramond Mitchell hails from sunny shores Nassau, The Bahamas. He is currently a junior at Saint John's University pursuing a major in Theology with a minor in Communication. He hopes to continue his education at the Saint John's School of Theology where he will start his advanced studies for an MA in Theology this coming fall. Upon graduation in May of 2017 he hopes to volunteer with the Benedictine Volunteer Corp. Here at Saint John's, Ramond is involved in the Saint John's Senate, Men's Chorus, Abbey Schola, and Campus Ministry. He enjoys every aspect of the Saint John's community. Ramond also enjoys singing, writing, speaking and meeting new people. This will be his second year serving as a camp leader.

Erin Tackle, Camp Leader
Erin is from Alexandria, MN and part of the graduate class of 2015 from the College of Saint Benedict with a degree in Music and a concentration in Vocal Performance. While at CSBSJU, she was involved is the CSB/SJU Chamber Choir, the Choral Arts Ensemble that toured in Europe, SJU Campus Ministry, and Opera Workshop. She currently directs the children's choir at Friday Masses for St. Mary's Church in Alexandria, along with teaching voice and piano lessons. In her spare time, Erin enjoys reading, singing, quilting, knitting/crocheting, and being outdoors. This will be her second year as a camp leader and she looks forward to getting to know the choristers and having a phenomenal camp experience. 

Karen MizeKaren Mize, Camp Leader

Karen hails from Topeka, KS and graduated from St. Ben's in May 2016 with a dual degree in Music Studies and German Studies. She will be continuing her musical studies at the University of Denver where she will pursue a Masters in Musicology where addition to her own studies, she will also assist in teaching undergraduate courses in Music History and Theory. This is her third year working as a camp leader with NCYC as well as serving as a part of the summer office staff. Whilst at St. Ben's was an active member of the Opera workshop and a member of the CSB/SJU Chamber Choir. She was also a member of the Choral Arts Ensemble which toured Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic in May 2015. In the Fall of 2015 she returned to Austria for a semester of study in Salzburg, before returning to CSB/SJU for her final semester of college. Outside of school she enjoys reading, dancing, going to the opera, listening to music, writing poetry, and of course, singing.
