Judy Doonan-Twohy

A Tale of Two Goods

In this session, Judy's story grapples with what she calls the "tale of two goods."  Choosing between good and bad isn't hard. Choosing between two goods in ministry is the challenge. There is a gray area for operating between designated authority and personal authenticity.  It is not an easy place to find nor easy to navigate, but it is where pastoral wisdom and pastoral imagination are fully engaged.

Judy Doonan-Twohy is Pastoral Associate for Faith Formation at St. John Neumann parish in Eagan with a focus in adult formation. After graduating in theology from St. Benedicts/St. Johns in 1979, she worked in religious education for five years before saying she would "never, ever do that again." That was a vow she couldn't keep. In between "doing that again" for St. Joseph's in Lino Lakes and St. John Neumann Parish in Eagan Minnesota, Judy has worked in organizational development with two national consulting groups.  More recently, she has completed a master's degree in religious education, has served on the executive committee for National Parish Catechetical Directors and with the board for the Association of Coordinators and Religious Educators. She is fascinated with how people of all faiths put together lives of hope and holiness, even amid the toughest circumstances. Judy lives with her husband and dog in the woods and swampland of Lino Lakes, and has two very nearly-launched adult children.
