On October 9, 2009, a packed auditorium listened to S. Joan Chittister, OSB, address the topic of "Monasticism as Radical Christianity." Citing the contributions of Benedictines throughout history, S. Joan called Benedictines to embrace a 21st century monasticism, a monasticism fully engaged with the world and its Buddhist, Muslim, and Jewish neighbors.
