On Monday, March 23, 2009, Saint John's School of Theology·Seminary hosted Cardinal Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. Throughout the cardinal's visit, it was difficult to tell whether he or his hosts were enjoying themselves more.
Over the noon hour, Cardinal Kasper shared a meal with students, faculty, and staff in the Emmaus Hall dining room and answered a number of questions from those assembled.
While on campus, the cardinal visited the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library and the Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research.
Following a formal dinner, Cardinal Kasper gave the Godfrey Diekmann, OSB, Lecture and received the Pax Christi Award from Saint John's Abbey and University. His topic was "Timeliness of Speaking of God: Freedom and Communion as Basic Concepts of Theology."
