Nothing can replace the experience of studying on campus at Saint John's, but sometimes, because of distance, work, community or family responsibilities, or other factors, being at Saint John's for class is impossible. To meet the needs of these individuals and to bring people together in innovative learning environments, we offer a number of Web-based courses.

The quality teaching and learning in our Web courses matches our traditional on-campus ones and is supported by Saint John’s University IT Services personnel. Courses have a discussion board format with regular assignments, to allow flexibility for students with differing schedules. Web class sizes are limited to facilitate close teacher and student interaction, even at a distance.

For the Master of Arts in Theology, Master of Arts in Liturgical Studies, Master of Arts in Liturgical Music or a Graduate Certificate, a maximum of nine credits earned in Web-based courses may be applied to the degree. For the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry or either track of the Master of Divinity, a maximum of twelve credits earned in Web-based courses may be applied to the degree. When possible, we make Web courses available to our graduates at a reduced cost so they can continue learning with the School of Theology·Seminary wherever they live.
