CAMPUS ALERT: Due to the weather, all evening classes at CSB and SJU are canceled. The LINK bus will run on its regular schedule until 5 p.m. and then every hour on the hour for the remainder of the evening, weather permitting. Pre-scheduled campus and community events and college/university sponsored events scheduled at off campus locations may continue at the discretion of the divisional VP.
In recent years, graduates with degrees in sociology have put their talents to use as graduate students, researchers, teachers, policy consultants and program evaluators. The liberal arts sequence is the best complement for a major in sociology, whether students intend to pursue graduate work or move directly into a career. The basic understanding of a number of academic disciplines gained through a liberal arts education is essential to the variety of work and the diverse range of human experiences.
Recent Graduates' Successes:
Several CSB/SJU sociology majors have embarked upon successful participation in graduate programs throughout the United States. CSB/SJU graduates have attended many universities including Colorado State University, Michigan State University, Oklahoma State University, University of Virginia, George Washington University, Purdue University, University of Colorado, Loyola University of Chicago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Texas and Indiana University.
Awards won by recent sociology graduates include: a Rotary scholarship to study in Australia and a Fulbright fellowship to do research in Germany.
