"Never doubt that a small group of committed individuals can change the world: indeed, it's the only thing that ever does."  Margaret Mead

Our department offers a degree program—after you've completed the major, you will have a degree in social work and the opportunity to become a licensed social worker (LSW). Our degree program is ideal for students who want to help others AND who want a marketable, certified skill that will help them find a job after college.

Department Highlights

  • The licensure test pass rate for social work majors has averaged more than 90 percent during the last three years.
  • Many of the colleges' alternative spring break trips match up well with our curriculum goals.
  • You will be prepared for a career in a wide variety of sectors, e.g. schools, courts, government agencies, social service organizations and more.

Overview of Program

  • Majors will write an essay outlining their life experiences.
  • Our junior practicum involves shadowing a social worker.
  • Our senior practicum involves full-time social work in a real workplace.
