Capital Improvements Committee gives RAs grant opportunity

10/24/2007

The Saint John’s Senate (SJS) Capital Improvements Committee voted to receive funding requests from SJU Resident Assistants for improvements to their residence areas. SJU Dean of Students Mike Connolly sent the SJS’s capital improvement grant request forms to SJU RAs on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007.

The program is designed to give RAs the opportunity to plan and implement small upgrades to their residential areas, with funding provided by the Saint John’s Senate. RAs will be able to apply for funding from the Capital Improvements Committee. This unique approach greatly increases the access of RAs to funds for capital improvements. SJU students are encouraged to contact their RAs about desired improvements in their areas.

The Capital Improvements Committee has discretion over a budget of $10,000 for making in improvements to the SJU campus. Other projects the committee is considering for 2007-2008 include: a major audio/video equipment upgrade to Brother Willie’s Pub, repair of arcade games in Tommy Basement, installation of a heater in Flynntown bus stop, installation of basketball hoops at Flynntown ice rink, a feasibility study for a campus snow tubing hill, and exploration of options for new grill locations on campus.
