SJU STUDENTS TO LOBBY FOR THE MINNESOTA STATE GRANT
3/30/2008

The Saint John’s Senate is seeking students to participate in Day at the Capitol, a FREE event sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Private College Students (MAPCS) and Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC). You still have time to sign up.

Who: SJU students (international, out-of-state, and MN students) meet with individual legislators
When: Wednesday, Apr. 9 – all day
Where: Minnesota Capitol – Saint Paul, MN
Why: State lawmakers will convene soon to begin budget and policy deliberations, which will include crucial discussions about funding for higher education and student financial aid.  Nearly 1,000 CSB and SJU students receive a Minnesota State Grant this year.  They are critically important parts of the financial aid our students receive.
Transportation: Buses leave campus 8 a.m. and return 5:30 p.m.
Sign-up: http://www.mnprivatecolleges.org/events/day.php

Lawmakers need to hear from students now about the importance of State Grants to students at Saint John’s University!

In addition, all Day at the Capitol participants will be invited to a FREE on-campus dinner with CSB President MaryAnn Baenninger on the evening of Tuesday, Apr. 8.  We have invited Rep. Larry Hosch, who represents both CSB and SJU at the Capitol, to join us, as well.
