Saint John's University
Housing Selection Process

Housing Selection Overview

The Housing Selection is held in late March / Early April each year. Rooms are selected by class status-- seniors, juniors and sophomores. A selection times are determined & assigned for each eligible participant based on total number of credit hours through the Spring semester of the current academic year.  Times are assigned by computer. A computer assigns, ranks, and sorts the selection times of the participants.  Participants with a higher number of total credit hours will get an earlier selection time.  Therefore, participants with Senior status (88 or more total credits) would receive an earlier selection time than those participants with few total credits.  If a participants has the same total number of credit hours as other participants, their selection times will be randomized with the participants with the same number of credit hours.

Room Registration Process

A current student may sign up for a room at the housing selection if he has paid the $100 advance room registration payment.

Students must register for at least 12 on-campus credits in order to live on campus. A check will be made after room selection to ascertain the number of credits carried by each student.

Room selection slips with the student's selection time and location will be placed in the student mailboxes four days in advance of room slection. This slip, along with your student ID card, must be presented at room selection. Students go through the selection process at the earliest time within their group.

Students studying abroad spring semester have designated individuals to chose a room for them. These individuals may pick up the Study Abroad's slips at the Campus Life & Housing Office on the Friday before the room selection.

If a student is unable to attend selection he must notify the Campus Life & Housing Office. He can designate a friend or have a representative of Residential Life to chose a room for him.
