The new Flynntown Apartments will open for occupancy in August of 2009 and will be a wonderful addition to our on-campus housing options! The three-story building will house 58 students in fifteen apartments. The basement will have a large laundry room. The building will feature an elevator as well as small study and meeting nooks on each floor. Wireless internet will be accessible throughout the building.

Most apartments will house four students, while a couple accessible apartments will house three students. Each apartment will have a kitchen, a living room, and two bathrooms and each resident will have a single bedroom.

Community Center

The new Community Center in Flynntown will be a fantastic location for students to meet, study, and host events. There will be a kitchen facility with a dining room. A comfortable lounge space will be accented with a two-sided fireplace that looks through to the lobby. The upper floor will have three study rooms, a computer lab, and a break-out area. There will also be an apartment for a Faculty Resident. The basement will house a laundry room and a recreation room. The patio space on the south side of the building will provide an outdoor gathering area and will include a fire pit for student use.

The Community Center will be the first LEED-certified building on St. John’s campus. LEED certification means that the building is constructed in a way to reduce the environmental impact, both during the construction phase and once the building is in use.
