Edelbrock House is named after Abbot Alexius Edelbrock, the second abbot of Saint John's who served as abbot from 1875 to 1889, and who oversaw the construction of the campus' main Quadrangle.
The house was originally occupied by George Durenberger, Saint John's football coach and athletic director. Here United States Senator David Durenberger (SJU Class of 1955) was born and raised.
Moved to its present location in 1980 to make room for the Seton Apartments, Edelbrock House now serves as a student residence for six seniors - who enjoy its fireplace and its air conditioning along with its quiet setting.
