VISTO - Volunteers in Service to Others (22 Programs, Unlimited Possibilities)

The students of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University are committed to serving the needs of others. VISTO (Volunteers In Service To Others) provides a link between the students and the surrounding communities. By offering 22 programs, there is an abundance of diversity to meet many personal interests.

Our goal, which coincides with that of a liberal arts education, is to provide students with opportunities to:

  • Cultivate a sensitivity for the personal and communal needs of others.
  • Learn about and interact with persons whose living situation may be different from his or her own and find creative ways of meeting the needs of others given the abundant resources we have at hand.

  • Explore and experience a variety of potential career opportunities.

Through volunteering, we strive to deepen our self-understanding through reflection and self-evaluation. By participating in VISTO, we strengthen one another’s self-confidence and sense of achievement through recognition and celebration.

The Campus Ministry offices of CSB/SJU provide support and guidance through an advisor to oversee the program. Since we are a strictly non-profit volunteer organization, we do not accept remuneration for the services we provide.

At the center of the program are the students themselves. They demonstrate dedication and commitment, devoting both time and energy to share something of themselves with others.

We invite you to join us.
