ANSWER 1

St. John’s moved from St. Cloud in March, 1864 to the site of the old Collegeville Station. But this was a temporary stop. The objective for the location of the abbey was two miles farther, through the heavily wooded region to the banks of Lake Sagatagan. Here, in July of 1866, a stone building, constructed of boulders picked up near the site, was erected. The permanent home of the monastery and school was established.
