Priorities

Saint John's is inspired by the words of our founder, Archabbot Boniface Wimmer, who boldly professed: "Forward, always forward, everywhere forward."

Looking to the future, we seek to share our Benedictine mission and values more fully and broadly with the world.  Presently, Saint John's seeks support for the following priorities:

  • Education:  Enhance educational excellence at Saint John's University and advance its standing as one of the nation's great Catholic liberal arts colleges, through support of student scholarships, academic programs, athletic facilities, and men's development.
  • Spiritual Life: Strengthen the monastic witness of Saint John's Abbey through support of vocations, the Benedictine Volunteer Corps, monastic healthcare and retirement, monastery and church renovations, and Abbey missions.
  • Service to the Church: Address the leadership needs of the Church through theological education and ministerial formation by supporting graduate student scholarships, youth programming and vocational outreach at the School of TheologySeminary.
  • Arts and Culture:  Preserve our cultural heritage through manuscript preservation, scholarly research and increased access to the collections of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library, as well as ongoing support to complete, display and share The Saint John's Bible.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Strengthen Saint John's commitment to environmental preservation and sustainability through support of land acquisition and care, alternative energy, environmental education, and building to house the Center of the Environment.
