SJU Trades Coal for Natural Gas
Coal has been the dominant energy source on campus since the 1940s. In a move toward sustainability, SJU has made the switch to natural gas. While more expensive, the cleaner fuel will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 58 percent.

Vande Hei ’89 Hopes to be First Johnnie in Space
Lt. Col. Mark Vande Hei returned to campus to speak to students about his career as an astronaut. Vande Hei completed his training in June 2011 to qualify for future space assignments.

Film Edited by Frost ’02 Wins Grand Jury Prize at Sundance
Paul Frost edited The House I Live In, a documentary film on the drug war in America. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in January.
