In 1997, then SJU Hockey Coach John Harrington tried to recruit Doug Schueller to attend Saint John's and skate for the Johnnies. The Inver Grove Heights, MN native, who played hockey at White Bear Lake High, accepted a Division I scholarship to Bowling Green State University instead. But as fate would have it, Schueller became a Johnnie after all, when he accepted a position as the SJU hockey coach in May.

Schueller will be on hand during the 8th Annual Saint John's Hockey Golf Outing on Friday, August 22 at Fox Hollow Golf Club in St. Michael, MN to meet alumni and friends of the hockey program.
