The Presidents officially designated the 2010-2011 academic year as "The Year of Sustainability" in their opening speeches for Scholarship and Creativity Day with William Cronon. This logo has been selected to represent the year. Workshops, conferences, discussions, and evaluations of current practices will be a part of the year.
CSB/SJU were listed in the Princeton's Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges. The schools were noted for their curriculum, career service panels, recycling, vegetarian options, the Link, and the Arboretum.

Water Bottle Study done by SIFE
SIFE conducted a campus-wide survey about water use. They designed 130 reusable bottles that say, "I am not plastic." They swept the campus by approaching students who were currently using plastic water bottles. Upon signing a pledge to stop using plastic bottles, SIFE provided these students with a free, reusable water bottle.
- 78% of students use a reusable bottle most often
- 73% support a ban of plastic water bottles on campus
SIFE will present their results to MaryAnn Baenninger who has called for a drastic reduction of bottles at CSB.
