Through role playing and “real case” discussion of scenarios, participants will gain a better understanding of student employment expectations for supervisors and for students. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to solve problems that plague most supervisors (i.e. absenteeism, responsibility, initiative).

Interpersonal communication is often one of the most challenging aspects of any job or workplace. To communicate successfully we need to find a balanced approach to dealing with difficult people or conversations. Most of us have heard about “I” statements and we know about passive, aggressive, and assertive communication—therefore, let’s move from those topics to the fascinating world of workplace personalities. Do you understand the people you work with? In this one hour course, participants will learn about workplace personalities and tips on how to effectively communicate with different workplace personalities.
Why is it when you're trying to help by providing feedback, the only message heard is negative...and then the anxiety begins. Come and learn how to provide effective feedback without fear. Hopefully both you and those on your team will find the positives in feedback.

Challenge your potential to become an authentic leader with the "Five Principles of Exemplary Leadership" by Kouzes and Posner and the supporting Benedictine Values. These principles and values will provide you with a framework in which to ground the process toward developing a personal leadership model.
This course will explore personal identity by reflecting on gifts and passions, look at the tension between personal and communal values, and discuss the question: "Must my job be the primary source of my identity?"

Participants will have the opportunity to identify personal or professional change that they have encountered and how it was handled. We will review why we resist change and how we can reduce the resistance to change. This will involve examples from participants.

The session will include small group breakout and large group dialogue discussing areas of workload, challenges versus busy work, professional expectations, responsibilities and work ethic.
Most people struggle with fitting all the things they need to do in one 24-hour period. This SELT event will help you better assess your own strengths and stumbling blocks with regard to managing your time, and will provide concrete, easy to use suggestions for how to better manage your time.
