Section I: Hour of Power Club (HOP)
Our mission is to provide a community that encourages a friendly environment in which to exercise. Secondly, HOP will establish a sense of camaraderie in the gym and will act as a supportive network. It's our hope that people will use this network to reach and further their fitness goals.
HOP is not affiliated with any outside organizations
Any CSB/SJU student is eligible to be an affiliate of the HOP, and participate in events and attend meetings.
To vote and become a full member, an individual must attend 1/3 of the club events and pay all necessary membership dues.
An individual who is not in good standing with the HOP Club will first be notified by an officer of their undesirable actions. If the undesirable action(s) persist, a meeting with the Club Officers for correction of the action(s) will follow. If the problems continue disciplinary actions may follow, including suspension or expulsion. For removal of an affiliate, only all of the officers are required to be present for a vote on disciplinary action. For removal of a member, all of the officers and a majority of the club members (a quorum) must be present for a vote; a majority vote will determine a disciplinary decision.
In order to qualify for an officer position, the candidate must be an active member of the HOP Club by attending 2/3 of the meetings/events, have demonstrated his commitment for at least a year, and be in good standing with the club officers.

Preside at meetings, call special meetings, primary contact with the institutions, appoint committee chairs, runs the election process. One president will assume the other's duties in his/her absence, schedule meeting/practice rooms/facilities, primary contact with the JCB, plans member/officer training programs.
Takes and distributes minutes of all club meetings, record keeper (current and past members, files minutes, etc), club historian, notify members of meetings, handles the official correspondence of the club.
Keeps all financial records, submits monthly audit statements to CFB contact (this is a mandatory requirement if you receive CFB funds), notifies organization of financial issues, prepares budget/allocation requests.
In the event a vacancy should occur (resignation or removal), Officer succession/"chain of command" will be followed (e.g., in the event that the President leaves office, the other co-president will assume those duties until a special election is held.) Then refer readers to the special election section of Article IV.
A petition to remove the officer in question must be submitted to another officer. This petition must contain the signatures of 2/3 of voting members. When such petition is received, the officer shall call a meeting of the club to determine whether or not the officer should be removed. Following this, grounds for removal will then be presented by the officer in charge at a regular or special club meeting to the officer in question. The officer in question shall be provided an opportunity to present a defense either in person or in writing. A quorum shall be present, and a (2/3) vote of the voting members shall decide upon removal.
To appeal the removal from office an officer will have 2 weeks to submit a request for review. If the officer appeals, the members of the club will meet with the officer in questions and discuss the reason for their removal. After the meeting if ½ the persons in attendance vote to keep the officer removed they will stay removed and will no longer be allowed to be an officer for the HOP Club.
An individual may be nominated to be an officer by a current HOP officer, or self nominate themselves prior to the yearly election.
The elections will be done at a club meeting held by the president. In order to hold elections 2/3 of the club members must be present in order to vote. A secret ballet will be held and counted at the meeting to elect the new officers. The new officers will be announced at the meeting and will become active officers at the end of the current school year.
If an officer is removed from office the HOP Club will hold an emergency election that day and elect a new officer that day. If no member can be elected the club president will either name the new officer or will take on the duties of the officer until one can be found. The election process will be similar to outline in section 2.
Our advisor must have had previous experience in fitness and/or weight lifting and lead an active lifestyle. The presidents of the HOP will determine a suitable faculty advisor.
The advisor's duties will be his/her presence to provide organizational and financial guidance for the officers and regular club members.
Regular Workouts Tri or Bi-Weekly will be scheduled for all members and affiliates to attend. Members only workouts will be scheduled with notification a week in advance.
Special Meetings for the Chief Board of Officers will be scheduled monthly to review and evaluate the actions/progress of the HOP Club, as well as addressing ways to improve and better the club members. Emergency meetings may be scheduled in haste to appropriately handle a situation.
Parliamentary Meetings will be held once a year to review and revise the constitution, as well as elect Officers. The meetings will begin with an address by the Presidents, followed by a report given each by the Secretary and Treasurer. Nominees for election and the existing Officers are only invited to attend unless otherwise changed.
In order to make any constitutional/structural changes, there must exist a quorum of 2/3 of the voting member body to be present and blind vote.
The HOP Club will have a fundraising board, which includes all of the Chief Board of Officers, as well as anyone the officers appoint to the task who is willing. The HOP Board will also be automatically admitted to the ER (Equipment & Resources) Committee. The board is able to appoint any willing member the ER Committee if the individual is willing, by a 2/3 vote of the Board.
The HOP Club will apply for CFB financial allowance in order to better serve and facilitate the club members. All CFB procedures and regulations will be followed.
Honorariums will be given to any visiting experts or teachers that are able to visit the HOP to show our gratitude in the sharing of their knowledge and experience with the club.
The dues for the club will be spontaneous, for funds as honorariums to visiting experts/mentors. Also, a yearly due is not required, but if the HOP Officers deem that such measures would benefit the club, then members will be notified 1 month in advance. Such funds would purchase equipment, supplies for a celebration, etc.
For amendments to be made to the HOP's constitution, the Chief Board of Officers from the HOP Club must all be present to vote on the constitutional changes. The stated issues will be highlighted in a copy of the constitution, given to each of the officers to review for a week prior to the planned Amendment meeting.
Any changes made to this constitution must be submitted to the JCB.
The Hour of Power Club admits students without regard to their race, religion, color, sex, age, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and other activities, generally accorded or made available to members of the organization.
The Hour of Power Club considers hazing to be a degrading and destructive activity which is inconsistent with the standards of this student organization. The Hour of Power Club recognizes the dignity of every person and opposes all forms of hazing.
