Student Club Mass Email Policy
Mass emails are intended to inform students about events!
Per Merriam Webster an event is: a : something that happens : occurrence b : a noteworthy happening c : a social occasion or activity
Mass emails should contain factual information related to a meeting, speaker, performance, t-shirt sale or other event.
It is not appropriate for mass emails to be an expression of opinions, values or beliefs. Nor should they be used to react to other emails!!!!
Per the Joint Club Board:
-
Student clubs are limited to one (1) mass email a day; 24 hours must transpire between each email sent by an individual club.
- Student clubs may send one (1) additional cancellation or correction email per day. (Please use the word correction in the subject line)
- Only four (4) mass emails are allowed per event. Even if an event is co-sponsored, the total number of mass emails that can be sent to advertise a particular event is limited to four (4). Clubs who co-sponsor/co-promote events should work cooperatively to adhere to this standard, since each event sponsor will be subject to the sanctions below (see item 5) for noncompliance.
- The Joint Club Board will monitor and enforce these policies.
- All emails sent out from CSB/SJU club email accounts must honor the Benedictine Values. CSB/SJU students may report an alleged email violation by emailing the Joint Club Board. Any proposed email violation will be reviewed by the Joint Club Board. The Joint Club Board will discuss and vote by majority on each proposed email violation on an individual basis.
- If Student clubs and organizations do not comply
- First offense: Student clubs and organizations will receive a written warning from the JCB advisor.
- Second offense: Student clubs and organizations will not receive access to their club email account for the duration of two (2) weeks per policy violation. Notification of violation will be provided by the JCB to the office of Student Activities and to club.
- The Joint Club Board reserves the right to consider special sanctions in extreme and specific circumstances.
- The size of mass emails sent from student clubs and organizations will be limited to 750 Kilobytes per e-mail.
