Update on search for SJU president

On March 16 and 17 the Presidential Selection Committee met with the applicants for the position of SJU President. The Committee determined that three candidates should advance to the second stage of the process: Fr. Timothy Backous, OSB, Headmaster of Saint John's Preparatory School; Br. Dennis Beach, OSB, Associate Professor of Philosophy; and Fr. Robert Koopmann, OSB, Professor of Music and Fine Arts Division Head. The next stage of the selection process will include interviews and public forums with the Board of Regents, Saint John's Cabinet, faculty, staff, students and alumni. Members of the campus community will be invited to provide written feedback to the Selection Committee about each of the candidates. We are very pleased that we continue to be on track to make a recommendation that the Board of Regents could act on at their meeting on May 18, 2009.

Spring is finally here, so grab your tennis shoes, family and friends and join faculty, staff, students and alumnae for the third annual Women's Walk at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB), St. Joseph. CSB and SJU's ILCP wraps up third year

CSB and SJU's Inspiring Leaders Certificate Program (ILCP) wraps up its third year this month and would like to extend its congratulations to all those who received leadership certification within our program. The foundation of the program is a unique values-based curriculum based upon Kouzes' and Posner's five principles of exemplary leadership. The principles are taught through the lens of the corresponding Benedictine values for each principle. Students attend six one-hour courses and submit a reflective summary for certification. See the list of students receiving certification.

CSB and SJU students are lucky. One of the many priceless resources available to them as part of their CSB/SJU education is our network of alums - alums that are very interested in staying connected with the two campuses and giving back to the current campus community. Career Services takes advantage of this loyal alumni base and incorporates more than 360 alums each year into our programs such as the weekly career panels, annual Career EXPO or in the Alum Spotlights/Alum Profiles that are in our monthly newsletter, Career Designs, and on our home page. Alums have also participated in special "networking" sessions that have been held to teach students the "art of networking." Encourage your daughter/son to contact/connect with alums as part of the career planning process.
