MAJ Mattila, 1LT Peterson and 10 soldiers from the Minnesota Army National Guard left Minnesota on August 21, 2009 for a one-year deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They will train for a short time in Ft. Polk, La. then train with their counterparts in Croatia before deploying to Afghanistan.
