Senior Care seminars
Senior Care Seminars Series
The Retiree Association is sponsoring three talks concerning the care of our elders (or ourselves) when they are no longer able to do things on their own. Following the presentations we can continue our conversations over dinner at the Gorecki Dinning area together.
When should you begin to talk to your loved ones about additional help? How should you start this discussion? What types of home care are available and what should one watch for in setting it up?
Gary Gillitzer, adjunct professor in the CSBSJU Nursing Department, will speak at 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Groecki Center in room 204A.
If home care is not appropriate for your senior in need, what range of options are available? What does one need to look for when considering different types of facilities and services?
Brenda Turner from Benedicts Center will speak at 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the the Gorecki Center room 204A.
What is offered by hospice care and when should one begin to use these services?
Nathan Grove from Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice will speak at 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Board Room in the Terese Reception Center at CSB.
Amy Gromer McDonough, Communications Director for AARP Minnesota, will discuss the effects of Washington's new health care law, especially for those on Medicare. She will make her presentation on Thursday, December 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Gorecki Center, Room 204A, at the College of Saint Benedict. The program is free and open to the public.
