Active community volunteer and private investor - Dan received a BS in Government from Saint John’s University, an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, and an MA from Stanford University’s Food Research Institute. He founded or co-founded several telecommunications or related services companies, and presently is the principal investor and Executive Chairman of Vello, Inc., a teleconferencing startup. His volunteer activities include service to organizations in Minnesota, Northern California, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Dan focuses his volunteer efforts on youth development and education, and serves on the Boards of six non-profit organizations. Dan lives in Oakland, California with his wife, Katharine, and their three children, Matthew, Anna, and Michael. He was appointed interim president of SJU in October 2008.
