Retired President of Macalester College - Bob earned his BA in chemistry from Saint John’s University in 1962, his PhD in physical chemistry from Iowa State University in 1966, and his DSc from Haverford College in 1986. He served as President of Macalester College from 1984 to 1996 as Interim President, Provost and Professor at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, and as President of Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Bob has served on a wide variety of boards of directors and advisory committees including FORTIS Mutual Funds, The Research Corporation, Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities, Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, and the Minnesota Private College Council. He and his wife, Charlotte, reside in Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota. They have five children: Anne Marie, Patricia, Robert, Charles, and Sean.
