Rotorod® Sampler

The Rotorod Sampler is one of the most popular pollen and spore collecting systems in the world. Ours is a Model 40 which operates on a timer that intermittently spins the head, which brings the pollen-collecting rods out by gravity.

The Model 40 Rotorod has a programmable timer.  A 10% Duty Cycle is the standard amount of time that it samples. This means that the head is spinning, and the rods are collecting, for 10% of the time that it is out there.  It operates on a ten minute cycle, so in this case, meaning that it collects for one minute and then rests for nine.  A 5% Duty Cycle would collect for 30 seconds and rest for nine minutes and thirty seconds.  Click here for more information on how we make a pollen count with the Rotorod sampler.
