Is your Senior or Junior searching for a job or internship?

Although the majority of seniors and juniors have already secured jobs and internships, there is still time for your student to find a position that will interest him or her. Encourage your student to schedule a one-on-one meeting with a Career Counselor. We will work with your student to create a job or internship search strategy and assist in creating application materials (resumes, cover letters, etc.) and refining interviewing skills.

Many students are reluctant to begin a job or internship search because they do not know what type of work they want to do.  These students are the ones we most like to see as Career Counselors! Career counseling can help students clarify their interests and future career goals, as well as provide them with information and various resources to help make this an informed decision.

The following resources and strategies are among the most common and effective methods students use to find jobs and internships.

• E-Link – E-link is our online posting site that lists job and internships available to CSB|SJU students. E-Link can be accessed from our website (www.csbsju.edu/career)
• Identify potential employers – Students can begin by creating a list of potential employers. Next, students can search for postings on employer websites or contact the employer directly to inquire about job and internship openings.
• Networking/CANE files – The CANE files (Career Alumni NEtworking) allows students to search for alumni who work in their field of interest, or even alumni working for specific employers.  Student can then contact these alumni and learn more about the field and job/internship opening.
• Career Services Website – A portion of our website is dedicating to listing resources to help students find job and internship opportunities http://www.csbsju.edu/career/students/postgrad/jobopps.htm . Students can search for resources specific to their interest area.
• Vault Online Library – In addition to providing e-books to our students on a variety of topics, Vault also houses information on hundreds of companies. Students and search for companies by industry. For example, a student who searches for companies in the publishing industry will find information on over 70 organizations.  Students can access the online library from our homepage. (Students who are off-campus will be prompted to enter a username a password.)
