Major: Communication

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I always knew I wanted to go abroad, but it was the program I had trouble pin-pointing. Amazing enough, it was at the study abroad fair that I chose Roman Greco. I loved the two cities and the classes fit perfectly with my schedule. It was the best decision of my life.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

I went to the Trevi fountain one night. The Trevi was absolutely packed, but it was the journey there which was amazing. We walked through Capitaline Hill and the Roman Forum, two areas we were continuously in for class during the day, but at night they were lively and exciting and fun. It was a whole new world.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

Studying Abroad was the best experience of my life. Memories flood my brain continuously. I have done so many things people have only dreamed about. But I didn't just 'do things' in a foreign country, I lived in two foreign countries. Trust me, there is a difference.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I now do more things in my daily life. I don't wait for things to happen. When I was abroad, I knew my time would be up. Now, back at school it is easier to wait for things to happen. I don't do that anymore. I live my life to the fullest.

What advice can you offer for CSB|SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Please know that this is the best experience of your life, but it is challenging as well. You will be put in situations that are uncomfortable and awkward, but that is part of the experience. Those moments make it so much better.
