CPR certification is required for all nursing students prior to application to the major. All students must submit a photocopy of your current CPR certification card (front and back, completed and signed). The required CPR certification is from the American Heart Association course:
American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers
This course includes: adult, infant child rescue; one & two person rescue; rescuing a choking victim; and automatic external defibrillation (AED). Hospitals and nursing homes usually offer this course monthly.
The American Heart Association (BLS) course is the only course that is accepted. Red Cross does not meet the requirement.
Certifications and renewals must occur prior to August 15 of the academic year in which it expires. It must be effective to at least May 1st.
You must submit the photocopy to the Nursing Department by August 15th
