Nursing Early Admission Program Fall 2008

The nursing department has found ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA are strong predictors of success in the nursing curriculum. This information led to an Early Admission Program for incoming first-year students.  At the time of enrollment to the college, CSB and SJU will guarantee admission to students who meet the following qualifications AND retain eligibility in the Early Admission Program as indicated below. 

Qualifications:

• ACT composite score of 26 or higher (or combined SAT-1 score of 1760 or higher) at time of application to the college.
• Must have indicated nursing at the time of application to the college
• Must be a new, entering first-year student for Fall 2008

To retain eligibility in the Early Admission Program a student must:

• Attain a GPA of 3.0 or higher in prerequisite nursing courses by the end of the 1st year at CSB and SJU
• Maintain a prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher through fall term of sophomore year
• Attain a BC or better in each prerequisite course
  (The CSB/SJU grading scale is as follows: A, AB, B, BC, C, CD, D, F)
• Meet all other minimum requirements with exception of:
1. excused from: An essay on professional goals
2. excused from: Two references, at least one of which must be written by a college faculty member

It is recommended that students in the Early Admission Program complete all requirements for application to the major in the event that they fall below the 3.0 GPA requirement. A student who does not retain eligibility can still apply through the regular admission process.
