SJU Names New Board of Regents Members

Collegeville, Minn. - At its May meeting, the Saint John's University

Board of Regents named Frank Wilderson and Dick Nigon to three-year terms among its ranks beginning in October 1997.

A professor of educational psychology at the University of Minnesota, Wilderson graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans and received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. A

resident of Minneapolis, Wilderson was assistant dean in the College of Education from 1969 to 1974 and vice president for student affairs at Minnesota from 1975 to 1989.

Wilderson is a member of the board of directors, vice chair of the board and chair of the grants committee for The Bush Foundation.

He is also a member of the board of The State of Minnesota Board of Law Examiners and The Jeremiah Project.

A graduate of Saint John's in 1970, Nigon is a partner with Ernst & Young, LLP in Minneapolis. Nigon has spent over 26 years serving consumer product manufacturing, retail, medical and high-technology companies.

Nigon, a resident of Minneapolis, is a member of the American

Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the board of directors for Milestone Growth Fund.

The Board of Regents also elected Jim Hoesley, managing director of CS First Boston Corporation in Chicago, Ill., to serve a second term and John Brandl, professor of public affairs at the University of Minnesota Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, and

Jon Theobald, senior vice president and trust division manager at American National Bank and Trust Co. in St. Paul, to serve a third term.

The Board of Regents is the governing board of Saint John's University, a Catholic Benedictine liberal arts college for men in Collegeville, Minn., which operates in coordination with the nearby College of Saint Benedict for women, located in St. Joseph.
