The Saint John's University baseball team took the long route to reach its goal, but won the MIAC Playoff Championship Sunday, May 10, at Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

The championship advanced the Johnnies to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fourth time in school history, and the second time in four years.

The Johnnies open play in the eight-team, double-elimination La Crosse Regional at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Copeland Park, La Crosse, Wisconsin, facing Coe College of Iowa. The Johnnies, 26-14 overall, are the tournament's No. 4 seed, while Coe (31-12 overall) is seeded No. 5.

The La Crosse Regional continues through Saturday, May 16.

The Johnnies lost their first game in the double-elimination MIAC Playoff Championship, but then stormed back to win four straight games, including back-to-back wins over St. Thomas, 9-6 and 5-1, to win the title and the MIAC's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
