ST. JOSEPH, Minn.- Philip Durkee, College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University associate professor of peace studies and director of the CSB/SJU China Study Abroad Program, was recruited during the 1997 fall semester by the Chongqing Television Station to play a minor part in a historical documentary on the life of Zhou Enlai, China's famous premier, on the occasion of the 100th year since his birth.

Durkee played the role of the American envoy sent by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1939 to Chongqing in order to try to unite the Guomingdang and Communist parties into a single force in the war against the Japanese invasion of China.
