His Holiness Pope Francis is shown shortly after his address to Congress witnessing the official presentation of the Apostles Edition of The Saint John's Bible to the Library of Congress. The Saint John's Bible is the first handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Monastery since the invention of the printing press. The gift, made possible by GHR Foundation, was chosen to commemorate the visit by Pope Francis to the United States and was presented to Librarian of Congress Dr. James H. Billington on behalf of the American people.
Above (from left to right) are the participants in the presentation, Abbot John Klassen, OSB; Chairman of Joint Committee on the Library Sen. Roy Blunt; Dr. Billington; Pope Francis; Speaker of the House John Boehner; Saint John's University President Dr. Michael Hemesath; and GHR Foundation CEO Amy Rauenhorst Goldman.
