Noteworthy Spring 2014

Ryan Klinkner, athletic media relations director at SJU, is the recipient of the 2014 College Division (small college) Rising Star Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Rising Star Award is presented annually to a university division and college division member with 10 years of full-time service or less in the profession for service, dedication, energy and enthusiasm that makes the individual a "rising star" in sports information.

The award, which was announced Wednesday, Feb. 26, will be presented to Klinkner during the annual CoSIDA Conference in June in Orlando, Fla.

Katie Spoden, a senior political science and environmental studies major, interned at The Worldwatch Institute during the summer of 2012 and has been published as a contributing author in its publication: Vital Signs: Volume 20. The book was published by Island Press, a nonprofit organization that promotes new ideas on how to combat environmental issues. Her internship was through the Washington D.C. Summer Study Program at CSB/SJU.

Ron Pagnucco, CSB/SJU associate professor of peace studies, has a new book on Catholic social teaching forthcoming in April 2014 from Liturgical Press. Pagnucco is co-editor of A Vision of Justice: Engaging Catholic Social Teaching on the College Campus.

Brian Jose, executive director of Fine Arts Programming at CSB/SJU, received the annual North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents (NAPAMA) Award for Excellence in Presenting the Performing Arts. The award presentation took place at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters annual conference award luncheon Jan. 13 at the Hilton Hotel in New York City.

Anthony Ruff, OSB, SJU SOT associate professor of theology, has published Sung Gospels: For Major Solemnities in Multiple Voices with Liturgical Press.

Glenda Burgeson, CSB/SJU director of editorial services in Communication & Marketing, was mentioned in a Wikimedia blog about an edit-a-thon hosted Feb. 1 at St. Cloud State University. Burgeson participated in the event, which was part of a larger movement to empower women editors at Wikipedia and to improve articles about women. blog.wikimedia.org/2014/02/19/wikipedias-art-feminism-edit-a-thon/
