Book discussion series on Muslims around the world

Clemens Library at the College of Saint Benedict will offer a series of public book discussions about the histories, faith and cultures of Muslims around the world from 5-6:30 p.m. every other Thursday from Feb. 13-April 10 in Clemens Library, CSB.

The opening session in the "Let's Talk About It: Muslim Journeys" reading and discussion series covers the book "When Asia Was the World." The discussion will be led by Jeffrey Diamond, assistant professor of history at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.

The event is free and open to the public. Contact Diana Symons at [email protected] to sign up and arrange to pick up free copies of the five books to be discussed. Quantities are limited. These books include: "The House of Wisdom," to be discussed Feb. 27; "The Ornament of the World," March 13; "Leo Africanus," March 27; and "In an Antique Land," April 10.

Clemens Library is partnering on this discussion series with the Jay Phillips Center for Interfaith Learning which has a mission to promote interfaith learning, friendship and service among people of various religions, and Community Grassroots Solutions, an organization that works with the refugee and immigrant populations of central Minnesota.

The series has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association.
