Writers from faculty, community to read at CSB

The Literary Arts Institute (LAI) at the College of Saint Benedict welcomes seven writers for a reading at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Teresa Reception Center boardroom, Main Building, CSB.

The community reading features current and retired faculty members and alumnae/i of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.

S. Mara Faulkner, OSB, who retired in May as an associate professor of English at CSB and SJU, is reading from her new poetry chapbook, "Still Birth." Larry Schug, a retired recycling coordinator at CSB, is reading from his upcoming book of poetry, "At Gloaming."

CSB and SJU faculty members Karen Erickson, Betsy Johnson-Miller and Rachel Marston will be reading as well.

Erickson, a professor of French and chair of the languages and cultures department, will read from her new poetry chapbook, "Dwellings." Johnson-Miller, an instructor of English, will read from her book of poetry, "Fierce This Falling." Marston, an assistant professor of English, will read from her novel-in-progress, "How to Speak to God."

Bob Thimmesh and Mary Willette Hughes will also be reading from their works of literature. Thimmesh, an alumnus of Saint John's Preparatory School and Saint John's University, will read from his new book of poetry, "Hear a Silence Roar." Hughes, an alumna of CSB, will read from her book of poetry, "The Shadow Loom Poems."

This event, sponsored by the LAI, is free and open to the public.
