Fiske guide to collegesThe College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University have been named a "Best Buy School" by the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2011.

Fiske named 45 institutions - 24 private and 21 public - as Best Buys this year. (The editors of the guide count CSB and SJU as one entry.) There are no other Minnesota colleges or universities on the 2011 list.

This is the third time CSB and SJU have been recognized as a Best Buy from Fiske. CSB and SJU were named a Best Buy by Fiske in its 2002 and 2003 editions.

The ranking combines academic ratings, pricing and the quality of student life on campus.

"Our community has worked very hard over the years to earn this recognition," said Cal Mosley, vice president of admission and financial aid at CSB and SJU. "It is a testament to the commitment of the faculty, the administrative group and the leadership of the colleges. We believe we offer an exceptional educational value to our students and their families. "

"The schools' small sizes and strong sense of tradition give rise to the tight-knit community," the Fiske Guide said in its review of CSB and SJU. "Together, the colleges have invested millions in facilities in recent years, including new and renovated facilities for art, music, theater and athletics; two new science centers; residential halls and a dining and conference center."

The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2011 is an independent publication, and accepts no consulting, advertising or other fees from colleges. It has no outside relationship with colleges working on its behalf.
