CSB/SJU Professor Involved in PBS Documentaries

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - Richard Bohr, Associate Professor of History at College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, will serve as scholar-consultant and commentator on two China related documentaries on PBS again this year. The first piece on the fate of Christianity in the Marxist People's Republic of China for the PBS program Religion and Ethics, will run nationally starting Oct. 1, 1999 and is set to air locally Tuesday, October 5, 1999 on KTCI/KTCA, Channel 17, at 9:30 p.m.

The date has not yet been set for the airing of the second documentary that Bohr worked with. The second documentary is on the Chinese Revolution as seen through the eyes of three generations of one Shanghai family and will air over The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.

These documentaries are part of the "Making the Global Local" project. Hamline University heads this project along with partners KTCI/KTCA and the Star Tribune. CSB/SJU and the University of Minnesota's School of Journalism are also involved in this project. CSB/SJU benefits through this by being able to match faculty with print and broadcast journalists in developing international stories for public education. Students have the opportunity through the project to do internships in international journalism through Minnesota-based media operations.
