Brian Jose receives national award for presenting performing arts

Brian Jose, executive director of Fine Arts Programming at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, received the annual North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents (NAPAMA) Award for Excellence in Presenting the Performing Arts.
The award presentation took place at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters annual conference award luncheon Jan. 13 at the Hilton Hotel in New York City.
The NAPAMA Award is given each year to a distinguished arts presenter and is based on the following criteria:
- The nominated recipient and his/her organization is a not-for-profit performing arts presenter.
- Proven dedication to the future of presenting the performing arts.
- A high level of professionalism.
- Unwavering respect for colleagues in the field (artists, managers and fellow presenters).
- Exemplary ethical behavior.
"I believe that the very bedrock of our industry are the partnerships, collaborations and friendships between performing artists, manager, agents and presenters," Jose said at the award presentation. "And the very foundation of whatever success any of us enjoy in our field is wholly dependent on the health of those relationships. So, to be recognized by these very artists, managers and agents as 'presenter of the year,' what more could a presenter ask for."
Jose has been the executive director of Fine Arts Programming at CSB and SJU since 2008. He serves on the national board for the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and in 2013 was one of four presenters chosen to travel to Pakistan as part of the Center Stage delegation, a cultural exchange program of the U.S Department of State.
Jose has more than 27 years of experience as an arts administrator. Prior to coming to CSB and SJU, he was the director of marketing and communications for the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, Md. There, he was part of the management team of one of the most influential performing arts facilities in the country.
