Both the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University Bookstores will be hosting book signings by authors Terri Rodriguez and Tammy Wilson on Saturday, Sept. 30, as part of Family Weekend festivities.

The signing will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the SJU Bookstore, which is located in Sexton Commons.

Wilson and Rodriguez will also sign from 3-4 p.m. in the CSB Bookstore, which is located in Mary Commons.

Rodriguez co-authored “Supporting Muslim Students: A Guide to Understanding the Diverse Issues of Today’s Classrooms” with Laura Mahalingappa and Nihat Polat of Duquesne University.

An associate professor of education at CSB and SJU and a former secondary English teacher, Rodriguez’s book is a practical guide for educators who are working with Muslim youth in PK-12 schools to understand issues that may affect Muslim students today.

Wilson will be signing copies of her young-adult book, “Through My Eyes,” which was illustrated by Jill Dubbeldee Kuhn, gallery manager for Fine Arts Programming at CSB and SJU.

The principal of Discovery Elementary School in St. Cloud which has a high Somali population, Wilson saw the need to write a book in which her students could see themselves represented in literature and authored a book that not only inspires children, but also educates adults.
