CSB and SJU to celebrate season at Basilica concert

Musical groups from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University perform their 22nd annual “Celebrating the Season” holiday concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis.
Performing groups include the Amadeus Chamber Symphony, directed by Axel Theimer; CSB/SJU Brass Choir, directed by Dale White; CSB Campus Singers, directed by Teri Larson; CSB/SJU Chamber Choir, directed by Theimer; St. John’s Boys’ Choir, directed by André Heywood; and the SJU Men’s Chorus, directed by Theimer.
This year’s program features music by W.A. Mozart (Te Deum), George F. Handel, Arvo Pärt (Magnificat), Francis Poulenc, Felix Mendelssohn, Biebl (Ave Maria) and many more, plus the annual singing of favorite and traditional Christmas carols.
An added highlight will be the world premiere of Donald Krubsack’s The Unfolding: A Ruah Prayer, with text by Michael Dennis Browne. The work, commissioned by Larson for the Campus Singers, is for women’s voices, flute and harp.
Advance tickets to “Celebrating the Season” will be available at the locations below, or at the door beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Prices are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors (60 and over) and children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at:
