Minnesota Education Job Fair - April 24

The annual Minnesota Education Career Fair will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.  This event, open to current CSB/SJU Education Majors as well as alumnae/i, is a key event in the job search process for aspiring educators. 

Pre-registration with CSB Career Services is required (by March 20, $15) to attend. Education majors will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from approximately 150 school districts representing 25 states and 3 foreign countries.  Approximately one third of the districts will be from Minnesota.  The CSB Career Services Office will be helping students prepare by offering resume critiques and interviewing tips for the fair as well as a workshop on April 11 on “Preparing for the Education Fair Experience.”

Although the Education Fair offers a great opportunity for students to explore opportunities, other resources exist that students/alums will also want to utilize.  Graduates seeking teaching positions in Minnesota should consider checking out Education websites such as EdPost and MN Assn. of School Administrators listed on the CSB/SJU Career Services Web site .

Although the majority of CSB/SJU education major graduates have a strong interest in staying in Minnesota, those considering relocation will greatly enhance their employment potential.  Those relocating can teach for 2-3 years, gain classroom experience, and then return to Minnesota and find their possibilities enhanced.

For those of you that don’t have Education majors graduating this year, Career Services offers assistance to students through resume workshops as well as presentations to Education classes on interviewing skills, networking, and preparation of a teaching portfolio.
