Richard Dirlam earned First Prizes and Medals of Honor in Saxophone Performance and Chamber Music from the Conservatoire de Musique de Bordeaux, France while in the studio of Jean-Marie LONDEIX. After his studies in France, Richard began performing recitals, chamber music concerts, and as a soloist with orchestras in Europe, North America, and Japan, and at the same time pursued studies in orchestral conducting and chemistry.
He performs and records with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Intergalactic Contemporary Ensemble (formally the Minnesota Contemporary Ensemble), Zeitgeist, Zenon Dance Company and other venues in North America.
