CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble
- The Wind Ensemble is composed of 60-65 instrumentalists who perform original and transcribed literature for winds.
- Music ranges from compositions by Bach and Mozart, to standard wind works by Grainger and Holst, as well as newer contemporary works by composers writing for winds today.
- Approximately one-third of the members are majors or minors in music, but the majority of the ensemble is made up of students from the wide variety of other disciplines within the colleges who excel and enjoy performing on their instruments.
- It is a select group and membership is attainable by audition only.
- Since 1978, under the direction of Dr. Dale White, the CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble has toured throughout the United States including much of the upper Midwest, Colorado, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
- They have also performed in Canada and the Bahamas.
- They have also been invited to perform as part of the Minnesota Music Educators Convention and in 1985 were the first college ensemble to perform in the Ordway Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- They completed their last compact disc recording during the spring of 2005, which includes contemporary works by Hazo, Sparke, Cichy, Jocob, Grainger and Chance.
