Repertoire Workshop

Students are invited to share and perform a piece of music they are working on for a CSB/SJU piano faculty member and a small group of peers. Students can play a portion of a piece, ask to work on a difficult passage, or even play just one “hand” or part – it’s up to them. They will receive verbal feedback from the piano faculty.

This workshop is intended to truly be a workshop. Music is meant to be worked on, discussed, experimented with and ultimately made better. The student is encouraged through the process of learning rather than being evaluated only by the end product/performance. Although a small group of peers will be in attendance, the atmosphere and tone of the gathering is supportive and encouraging, not competitive.
