The AMES Elementary School located in northeast St. Paul has very enthusiastic and committed staff and a lot of parent and community support. Its principal and teachers are wholly committed to their students and spend long hours making sure the school is safe, conducive to study and that the youngsters get all the support they need. School staff and parents get together regularly for meetings.
Visit http://www.ames.spps.org/home1.html for more information about the school itself. For the third year in a row, CSB/SJU students will be volunteering at Ames Elementary School in St. Paul on Saturday Mornings. With a student population of 285, roughly 80% of the pupils are considered students of color. The involvement of our students as mentors and role models had a very beneficial effect on the students of Ames. The school has made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) in Math and Reading! The MN State and Federal Education Departments released the MCA II scores for 2006 - 2007!!!
