Conference-based research project examines how and why undergraduate men are involved in student groups or activities that oppose violence against women. Participants needed--travel funding available to research participants.
Why are you committed to gender equality and ending violence against women! The 1st National Conference for Campus-Based Men’s Gender Equality & Anti Violence Groups is sponsoring a research project examining how and why undergraduate men are involved in student groups or activities that oppose violence against women. We would like to invite you to join 30 men in sharing your story. Your participation will help inform future efforts to engage men in work to create gender equality and end violence against women.
Project participants will receive funds to help defray costs associated with attending the conference. Participants will be asked to submit an online personal statement, and complete a 20-30 minute personal interview on November 6th or 7th at the Conference For Campus-Based Men’s Gender Equality & Anti-Violence Groups. Participants will also be asked to attend an evening focus group during the conference weekend.
Up to 30 project participants will receive travel funding. To apply, please carefully complete the online personal statement. The online personal statement must be received by September 14, 2009. Applicants will find out if they have been selected for participation and how much funding they will receive by September 28th. Participants must be traditional male college students who have been involved in efforts related to gender equality and violence against women for at least one semester. Multiple men from each campus are welcome to apply. Participants will be selected using a number of factors including basic demographic information, amount of funding needed, and date the personal statement is received. There is no penalty for withdrawing from the study at any time. Please click here to contact Ed Heisler with any questions.
