French Assistantships

While it's usually very difficult to find English- teaching placements (for recent graduates) in western Europe, this official program of the French government is an exception. Students who will graduate by next summer and who have working knowledge of French should have good chances of obtaining a placement, based on the experience of our students last year, since there are over 500 positions available. Modest stipend paid.

No charge to apply or participate. Note that the application forms, available in hard-copy only, are entirely in French and very extensive! While the materials specify eligibility as limited to French majors, most of our students who were accepted last year were not French majors but had a working knowledge of French.

Those interested in exploring other options for working (including internships, volunteering, teaching) in Francophone countries should check out these resources and opportunites.
